Print Updates
almost 4 years ago – Sun, Jun 07, 2020 at 06:49:33 PM

Hello Runewild Backers,

The good news is that I got back the Runewild proof, and it took less than the 24 business days I was dreading it would take.

The bad news is that I'm not completely happy with it. There are a few small things that I might have overlooked, but the larger issue is with the map over the double page spread. I'd tried to set it up so the numbers could read well even where they crossed from one page to another, but it didn't come out how I'd hope so I'm going to try again, this time shifting the number over so their completely on one page.

Are You A Print Backer in the UK?

I'm still looking to see if there's any print backers in the UK who might help out by looking at a print proof. All I need you to do is make sure nothing looks bad. You'll get your book earlier assuming everything is good, and if there are issues I'll send you another. If you're interested, you can message me through Kickstarter or write [email protected]

That's all for now. I'll keep posted when I know more.

Status Updates and Terrain Toolbox
almost 4 years ago – Wed, May 20, 2020 at 09:24:44 AM

Hello Everybody,

Thank you all again for you patience. It sounds like some people are starting to get print maps, which is great to hear. I think the GM screens might take slightly longer than maps and those outside the US will need to wait a little longer for shipping, but they should be coming soon.

For the print books, the digital files have been approved, and I've ordered the proof copies. As mentioned in the last update, this may take several weeks.

One other request with proofs: I once had an issue with books looking good coming from the US printer, but having issues from the UK printer. If there's somebody in the UK who ordered print books and can let me know how they look when you get them, let me know and I'll send you a proof copy to look at.

Terrain Toolbox

As things wind down on the Runewild, we're launching another Kickstarter campaign. This time for Terrain Toolbox.

Terrain Toolbox provides 48 sample terrains you can drop into combat, like a blood mage's circle, solid clouds, and lightning pillars. Each sample terrain includes cosmetic and rules variations, giving you hundreds of possibilities. Plus the book offers advice to create your own terrain.

Terrain Toolbox was originally published for 4e and Pathfinder 1e. Both editions are now electrum best sellers on DriveThruRPG now have great reviews (you can find some on the Kickstarter page). Now we're excited to bring Terrain Toolbox to 5th edition.

The first few days are always the most crucial for any Kickstarter campaign. I know these are crazy times, but if you are interested and able, please pledge early. Early support helps others discover the project and helps us reach our stretch goals sooner.

GM Screens, Maps, and Print Update
almost 4 years ago – Sat, May 09, 2020 at 09:07:07 PM

Hello Runewild Backers,

Good news first: GM Screens and Maps!

If your backing level included stretch goals, you should have gotten an email from DriveThruRPG with coupons for both portrait and landscape orientations of the Runewild GM Screen in PDF. If not, as always let me know. This is a little different, because it has not been released to the public yet (I'm currently planning to wait until the print books are also live), but I tested it, and you should still be able to download the GM Screens.

I've also gotten the proof copies back for the print maps and GM screen inserts and they look good! I'm sending out a last call to update your address if you ordered either of those. I'm planning to order those on Monday.

Print Book Update

As I mentioned before, the maps and screens use a separate printer than the books do, and it turns out that book printing is suffering some pretty serious delays due to Covid-19. It took almost a week to hear back that I needed to update something on my print files, which I've now updated but am now waiting for final approval.

Once that's approved, it sounds like it's taking up to 24 business days for the books to get printed, which is more than double the normal turn around time, and that's not counting the time to ship. That means that best-case scenario I'm likely to get the proof copy in early June, with you all getting your books some time in July.

I'm sorry for yet another delay, but I hope you can bare with us, and we'll try to have the books to you as soon as possible.

Thanks all. Stay healthy.

Last Call for Typos
about 4 years ago – Sun, Apr 26, 2020 at 06:44:55 PM

Hello again Runewild Backers,

I hope you are all enjoying the Runewild PDF. If anybody has not gotten your coupon code from DriveThruRPG yet, please let me know.

Thanks also to those who have contributed to the errors document. There might be a few more that we've missed somewhere, but I think I'm going to lock down the book and submit the files for printing on Wednesday, so if there is anything else you've spotted, please leave a comment, shoot me a message, or update this Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1No9fILeHzyYkdph3dc0vdXNWTt3TjJybWM-NYDa1HO0/edit?usp=sharing

Poster Map and GM Screen Updates

In other news, the printer  handling the maps and GM screen inserts is back up and running again, though they have said that it might take longer to get things out that unusual. I've ordered proof copies of both maps and screens. I'm not sure when they'll be ready, but when I get them, assuming they look good, I'll start fulfilling those add-ons.

That's all for now. Stay safe,

Matthew

The Runewild is Here!
about 4 years ago – Fri, Apr 10, 2020 at 02:47:18 PM

Hello Again Runewild Backers!

I am super excited because we just released the Runewild Campaign Setting in PDF to the whole world! You should have gotten an email from DriveThruRPG with a link to a free copy. (You might have also gotten one that just has a discount. Ignore that one.) If you have any issues, please let me know either by messaging me on Kickstarter of emailing me at [email protected]

Now that we've got the PDF out, I'm going to give it a couple weeks to see if we catch any more typos (I'm still checking the Google doc in the last update if you see anything). While that's going on I'm going to finish of the GM screens and extra content for the exclusive edition.

Review and Ratings

Once you download the book from DriveThruRPG, we would love it if you could give us a review or a rating. Rating the books takes only seconds, and five star ratings help others find the book. More detailed reviews are even more appreciated and give us feedback on how to make books better in the future.

Another Kickstarter on the Horizon

As work fulfilling the Runewild Kickstarter winds down, we're looking ahead to our next Kickstarter campaign, and we thought you should be the first to know. This time we're reviving a classic book that we put out for 4e and Pathfinder 1e: Terrain Toolbox

Terrain Toolbox offers advice and dozens of sample terrains that can help add variety to your combat encounters.

The previous version of Terrain Toolbox was popular and well-reviewed and I'm excited that we're bringing the book to 5e (and Pathfinder 2e as a stretch goal).

You can see the preview page here and sign up to get an alert when the campaign launches.

Thank you again for making the Runewild a reality.

-Matthew
